PLESTED AND BROWN

PLESTED AND BROWN

Adam and Clare met, and began working together, whilst studying Performing Arts at Middlesex University where they trained with John Wright and Huw Thomas. In need of a director they finally tracked down Amanda and together produced Carol Smillie Trashed My Room. It did very well at the National Student Drama Festival and the Edinburgh Festival. Carol endorsed the show, and her agent said she thought it was a funny title; so she's obviously a big fan of Plested and Brown.

Since that little gem of a show, they went on to produce The Surrendered Wife Show. This became The Reconditioned Wife Show for reasons they can't face explaining (lawsuits, the near loss of both Clare's house and her dad, an ex-policeman, who can put the fear of god into anyone. Particularly Clare) The show went to Edinburgh (Clare flew, Amanda got the train, and Adam drove up with his dad and the set in his dad's van) It received 4 star reviews, and seven years down the road Adam is still having to be eternally grateful to his dad and make him endless cups of tea.

Great news greeted them on their return home from Edinburgh. They were asked to be resident theatre company at New Greenham Arts (NGA) It is situated on the legendary Greenham Common, which has become an SSSI, full of burgeoning talent. At last, a secure and inspiring home from which to develop their work. From Greenham, they booked and ran their first national tour of The Reconditioned Wife Show. It was a great success, and the start of some lasting relationships with Arts venues around the country.

Following this, they threw themselves into rehearsals for their third show, Flamingo Flamingo Flamingo, which they took to Edinburgh which again went down a storm and made front page of the Scotsman. With Arts Council funding behind them they set off on a national tour; with sell-out shows and great reviews Flamingo Flamingo Flamingo proved a real winner. They've since represented England with the show in the South Korean International Festival of Theatre.

Hot Pursuit is Plested and Brown's fourth show. It was created after an initial research and development period working with artists David Sant (Peepolykus), Toby Wilsher (Ex -Trestle), and Phelim McDermott (Improbable). It previewed at Edinburgh to sell-out audiences before being packed on a plane to be apart of HIGH FEST -The International Theatre Festival in Armenia.

Since then, Hot Pursuit has had three national tours in the UK, and has toured New Zealand (north and south island) which included taking part in the Best of British festival in Auckland.

And the future? Plested and Brown recently performed in the 2007 Panto at the Corn Exchange Newbury and they are currently touring the UK in the Edinburgh festival 2007 hit Minor Spectacular.

Adam and Clare are currently working on their new show Health and Stacey, which will be debuted at this years Edinburgh festival.
