This startling musical comedy comes direct from Paris and New York via an hugely successful run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. "This is terrific stuff - informed, intelligent and occasionally quite insane. The show is comedy in music. Just music. No words. Believe me, you do not for one moment miss them." THE SCOTSMAN DUEL is an hilarious musical battle between two virtuosos who confront each other with equal weaponry - THE CELLO versus THE PIANO. Without ever resorting to speech, the duo deliver an incredible mix of musical and visual comedy. "A unique show
calling them talented would be an underestimation. Wonderful." ThreeWeeks eDaily - 4 stars "A perfect little piece of dramatic comedy for those who fancy their laughter with a little culture thrown in." THE GUARDIAN Duel was created in 1999 in New York after several weeks of improvisation. The current production has taken on its present form with the collaboration of director Agnes Boury, Paul Staicu on the piano and Laurent Cirade on the cello. Paul Staicu hails from Romania and studied classical music at the Bucharest Academy of Music and Superior National Conservatory of Paris, where he won prizes in composition and jazz. As well as being an eclectic composer he has performed as a concert pianist and at jazz festival throughout the world. Laurent Cirade is also a prize winning classically trained musician. Prior to Duel he toured for 12 years with the famous "Quatuor". They triumphed in France, Japan, China, Australia and Brazil and Laurent won the Moliere Award for Best Musical performance in 1994 and 1998. Agnes Boury has worked extensively in French television and theatre. As well as picking up a string of Moliere Awards, she has also worked with Gerard Depardieu, Jean Piat and Alain Sachs.
